What is Skilled Migration?

The Skilled Migration Program targets highly skilled individuals who are under 45-years of age at time of application and can contribute to the Australian economy by providing valuable skilled labour as part of the Australian workforce.


Skilled Migration Occupations

To be eligible for Skilled Migration to Australia your occupation must be on the Department of Immigration and Citizenship’s (DIAC) Skilled Occupation List (SOL). Locating your occupation on the SOL does not necessarily make you a suitable candidate for Skilled Migration on its own. You will need to satisfy a range of criteria to be eligible for Skilled Migration to Australia. The table below shows the 4 Major Groups, which are regarded as ‘skilled’ occupations. Your occupation must fall into one of these groups to be eligible for Skilled Migration.

Major Group	Description	Skill Level
1	Managers & Administrators	Occupations in Major Groups 1-4 are regarded as ‘skilled’. Applicants for Skilled Migration must nominate an occupation on the SOL in one of these groups
2	Professionals
3	Associate Professionals
4	Trades & Related Workers
